"Rawon Pak Pangat was my first experience trying rawon in Surabaya, and I ordered the nasi rawon ndeso. The broth had a rich, earthy flavor from the kluwek and tasted quite good overall, especially for a first try. The portion was satisfying, though some pieces of the beef were a bit tough and could have been more tender. Still, it was an interesting introduction to Surabaya-style rawon and worth trying if you want to explore local dishes."

"Came here on a Saturday afternoon with a group of 10 and surprisingly, it wasn’t hard to find seating. Service was quick and efficient, which we really appreciated. The place was clean, though it did feel quite hot and humid... would’ve been nicer with better ventilation or fans. Rawon is around 40k-ish per portion, and I personally really liked it. The broth was delicious and flavorful, and when paired with salted egg... So good. If you’re in Surabaya and craving rawon, I’d definitely say this spot is worth a visit."

"The beef is tender. The soup taste herbal and nice. The gravy is tasty and chili sambal power. A must try when in Surabaya."

"Went there at lunch time, it was crowded but there was still empty space. Parking area was very limited, moreover the street in front of this stall was very jammed. So i think that's the main issue about this place. Service is quite fast, maybe approximately 5 minutes of waiting. Their rawon is very tasty, authentic East Javanese taste. Price is affordable. Recommended lunch place to go, 5/5 stars."

"For the uninitiated, rawon is a must-try East Javanese specialty, and Pak Pangat's recipe hits almost all the right notes with its deeply flavorful and aromatic essence. Dropping a star because perfection is a journey, but for the taste that takes you on a journey back in time with every spoonful, it's a solid 4 out of 5 stars from me."

"The Authentic Recipe of Javanese Black Soup. This Pak Pangat Rawon ( Javanese Black Soup) is very delicious. It has crushed fried beef , fried tempe and tofu. The place is very clean, tidy, cozy and beautiful. The price is around 30.000 rupiahs"

"Great taste, especially for the rawon. Its taste very authentic. This dish have many variations such as rawon krengseng, rawon iga, rawon ndeso, rawon suwir, rawon campur, etc. My recommendation is rawon campur, so you can taste many variations such as shredded beef (suwir), krengseng, balinese spiced tofu and meat. I came here at breakfast, it’s not so crowded and easily got a parking spot. And it served fast, under 10 minutes. It took place near the province government offices at Gayungsari."
